Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 lb Lean ground beef or ground turkey as a substitute
  • 1 medium onion sauté until translucent
  • 2 medium carrots diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas or fresh/canned
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce vegetarian variety if needed
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme or rosemary or dried
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter or olive oil for dairy-free
  • 1/2 cup milk or non-dairy milk

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Sauté the onions and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until the onions turn translucent.
  2. Add the diced carrots and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Season the mixture with Worcestershire sauce, thyme or rosemary, salt, and pepper. Stir for another 2 minutes.
  4. Mix in the frozen peas and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Boil the potatoes in a large pot until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash with butter and milk.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
